AN EXCERPT FROM PSALM 34
ReplyDeleteI sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
This, perhaps more than many other passages has been of greatest comfort to me in my life. When we seek the Lord, he answers us...And delivers us from all our fears...Those who look to Him are never put to shame...Poor men and women (literally, or in spirit such as in Matthew 5) look to him, and HE sdaves them out of their troubles. I thank Holy Spirit for His comforting words of life today!
Nathan thanks for doing this. I always learn something new when I discuss the bible with other Christians. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThis is what I got out of tonight's reading..
NUMBERS
Joseph's tribe is now called Ephraim. His tribe consisted of the sub-tribes Ephraim and Manasseh. Since Levi's tribe was assigned to take care of the tabernacle the tribe of Ephraim took it's place to make 12. At least this is what I think. It's a little confusing.
LUKE & PSALMS
The theme here is humility. God likes humble people and not the proud. I recall Mary offering a sacrifice of two small birds (I can't remember where this is in the bible but I know it's there). From what I remember about the old testament the birds were pretty far down the line as far as sacrifices go BUT God wanted all that the person could give and not the actual value of the offering. This indicates to me that Mary was not rich however she gave God an offering from what she could afford. This indicates humility to me and putting God first.
GOOD STUFF:-)
